 Dad's The Word!

It can be difficult finding the right gift for friends or family, and as Fathers’ Day approaches it’s time to ponder the old question: What can I get for dad?  There’s a limit to how many ties and pairs of socks he needs, right?

With this in mind, here are a few ideas to keep dad happy this fathers’ day…or indeed to keep anyone happy, anytime!

New in store, from Kapiti Candies, we have truly amazing Toasted Marshmallows, as well as the traditional Pink & White variety.  There’s also classic Hokey Pokey, and Pohutukawa Honey Drops.

On to something that’s definitely for the gentlemen - Patum Peperium, The Gentleman’s Relish.  This quintessentially English, spiced anchovy relish has been enjoyed on hot toast by generations of dads - since 1828!

Another ‘old timer’ from England, which seems to be particularly appreciated by the gents, is the Geo Watkins range of sauces, established in 1830: Anchovy Sauce and Mushroom Ketchup.  These will add flavour to pies, meat, soups, fish, etc.

And one final English offering which always seems particularly well suited to many men’s taste: Frank Cooper’s Marmalades, as taken to Antarctica by Capt. Scott.  Made with real Seville oranges using Sarah Jane Cooper’s original 1874 recipe.

Fire Dragon Chilli Sauces from Hokianga, is a new range in store.  Sweet As  is a mild, sweet chilli sauce;  Xtra Hot  is self-explanatory and is made from vibrant yellow chillies; and  Deadly, as the name suggests, is the most fiery of the lot, made from the hottest chillies on the planet including naga morich, bhut jolokia & habaneros. So if dad’s up to the challenge…!

Don’t forget we also stock Orcona  Rings Around Uranus habanero sauce;  for dads who enjoy a good laugh with their hot chilli sauce.

Another sweet gift idea, and new in store, comes from Gretel’s Gingerbread.  Her special Swiss recipe for honey nut gingerbread is divine.  Check out the little gingerbread bars and pieces in a gift cone.
